Sundays on the Farm with Fiber

 

A series of fiber seminars combined with fiber arts projects classes

 

Class sizes are limited to 6. 

Class times are 9:30am – 4:00pm at the Fiber to Friends workshop in Los Lunas. 

A box lunch is included!

Sunday April 6 -   Fiber 101 – An Introduction to Fiber

Sunday June 8     

Staple lengthFiber topics include fiber characteristics and quality, processing, and

products.

Fiber arts project will be needle felted samples of a variety of raw and processed fibers with different character.  The felted samples will be put together on a piece to make a wall hanging or mat.  Bring your own animals’ fiber if you wish to make a sampler of their fiber for display!

Cost: $30.00;  all fiber and materials included

 

 

Sunday April 27 -  Working with Small Fiber Batches

Sunday June 29

Fiber topics include working with small amounts of fleece
( about 4 - 8 oz) for washing fiber, carding or combing fiber, and preparing it to use for your own fiber arts projects. 

Fiber arts project will be making a CD drop spindle and spinning fiber with it.  Your spun yarn will be used to embellish a mill-felted piece and make a business card case.

Cost: $40.00;  all fiber and materials included

 

 

Sunday June 1 -  After the Shearing – Working with Fleeces

Sunday July 20

Fiber topics include skirting, sorting, and preparing fiber for
processing. Bring one of your own fleeces if you wish to work with it.

Fiber arts project will be weaving a small piece on a loom, and adding fiber from the fleece and other fiber embellishments to it.

Looms will be available for the class but are not included in your fee.

Cost: $35.00;  weaving supplies included

Sunday July 13 –  Nuno felting – wet felting gossamer layers.  Be lacy and lovely, and try a

                             variety of different felting techniques.  All materials included

Make a felted Hat – using wet felting techniques, make a felted hat on a hat form.  Class limited to four.
